The Sacred Rings (Retail $29.99), is the sequel to the amazing Aura: Fate of the Ages, by The Adventure Company. Both lovers of the original game and newcomers alike will be easily drawn into this new installment. The graphics are of the vivid, beautiful, and vastly detailed quality that we have all come to expect from the best Adventure Company games. Each location you visit will seem more beautiful and exciting than the last. The various characters are well done, the puzzles and challenges are in-depth, and the plot is intriguing, providing all the classic elements of a great adventure game, The Sacred Rings is one of the best games I have played this year.
As in the previous game, The Sacred Rings lets you once again take on the roll of Umang, who now has possession of the Sacred Rings and must deliver them back to the clan of the Keepers for safe keeping. You must keep them out of the hands of those darker forces who would wish to use them for destruction. Throughout your adventure, you will encounter complex machinery that you need to figure out how to use, necessary items that need to be found and collected, foes who need to be defeated, and clues to be uncovered. Not all characters are there to hinder your journey, some will help, and all will be very interesting to meet.
From the very first moments of the game, obstacles present themselves. The seemingly simplest tasks can turn out to be the hardest knots to unravel, with unforeseen twists and kinks, just as you think you have found the right path. Can you successfully make your way through all of the puzzles in this new and dangerous land? Do you, as Umang, have the skills to protect the rings long enough to return them to the Keepers?
